Details: ORGANIZATION:We are working with a Commercial Contractor located North of Pittsburgh to identify the successful candidate to fill the position of Manager Sheet Metal Operations. Reporting to the General Manager.POSITION:• Supervise and direct sheet metal project managers. Including conducting meetings and compiling reports. Work with project managers on a daily basis to assist them in completing their projects.• Continuously evaluate the status of tools and equipment for the sheet metal division. Ensure that the proper tools are available, and resource new tools and technology.• Supervise the sheet metal shop. Work with shop foreman on a daily basis to establish schedule priorities based on field requirements.• Evaluate sheet metal stock against projected work load and market price and advise management on metal purchases.• Continuously evaluate shop equipment for proper flow of material. Stay abreast of new equipment and technologies. Evaluate paybacks and recommend new equipment purchases.• Prepare quarterly reports evaluating sheet metal shop efficiency.• Schedule all sheet metal manpower, coordinate all hiring and layoffs and deal directly with the union on all sheet metal issues. Maintain a library of sheet metal workers to aid in hiring.• Work directly with the union to coordinate apprentices.• Compile written reports and communicate information to upper management via biweekly meetings, and daily communication.• Prepare manpower schedules based on anticipated project load.• Assist project managers with solving problems with owners, architects, engineers etc.• Have a working knowledge and keep abreast of changes in code that relate to the sheet metal industry.• Supervise the drafting department. Work with draftsmen on a daily basis to establish schedule priorities based on field and shop requirements. • Continuously evaluate software and hardware needs and new technologies.• Assist with estimating sheet metal projects as needed.• Directly manage small projects and work orders as needed.• Work with the estimating department to ensure that records are properly posted upon completion of projects.• Schedule and chair successful bid kickoff meetings and oversee the turnover from estimating to operation.This is a professional, Direct Hire opportunity offering a competitive salary and compensation package.
