Community Organizing Specialist

Details: The Community Organizing Specialist plays a key role in developing and supporting a redesigned lodge system, with a particular focus on affinity-based communities, to deliver a consistently valuable member experience and strengthen the common bond by deepening relationships with existing members and attracting new members. This is accomplished by organizing and inspiring Thrivent members and prospective members in a movement focused on generosity and wisdom with money, and supporting the development and function of local “communities" through volunteer leadership.   This work relies heavily on grassroots organizing principles of relationship-building, mutual interest and collective efforts.   Community Engagement Specialists are responsible for executing strategies and tactics for online and offline grassroots engagement in Thrivent’s key markets.  Ideally, Specialists will be based in and conducting efforts in their local area.  Position Roles/Responsibilities/Accountabilities: This position is charged with executing the day-to-day responsibilities organizing activities and groups to promote generosity and wisdom with money, including: Assisting with targeting and outreach efforts to various faith-based communities and constituencies across the U.S., including conducting one-on-one conversations and meetings, tracking, and follow-up   Cultivating the formation of Thrivent Communities who join together, build an inspiring movement, and conduct projects directly related to Thrivent’s mission   Supporting Thrivent Communities through facilitation, training, coaching, troubleshooting, and organizing assistance   Identify and recruit volunteer leaders to participate in grassroots efforts., offering guidance to community members that leads them up a ladder of engagement and connection   Integrating other aspects of Thrivent Financial into the Thrivent Community activities proactively   Building relationships with other Thrivent field staff and actively seeking opportunities to connect them with Thrivent Community work as appropriate   Documenting lessons learned in the field   Assisting with writing materials and developing tools for Thrivent Communities that will strengthen their work   Facilitating strategy sessions and training sessions for groups on grassroots engagement best practices   Integrating online & offline strategies as appropriate   Serving as an advocate for Thrivent in the community by communicating the benefits of membership and illustrating the importance of participation in a Fraternal Benefits Society
